WHERE IS AKRON HOPE NOW?
Akron Hope is no longer a branch of Charleston Hope. As we grew, we wanted to dig our roots right here in Akron, Ohio. We are now a program of The Well CDC in Akron as part of their Supporting Place initiative. We are still the same Akron Hope and have the same values and programs.
HOW DID AKRON HOPE START?
Akron Hope was founded by executive director Jen Vliet. Her cousin Chad Cooke was very involved in Charleston Hope in Charleston, South Carolina. After Chad's sudden passing, Jen wanted to continue Chad's dream of spreading Charleston Hope in other cities. Akron Hope became a branch of Charleston Hope in 2015.
